On Parenting Now Vs Parenting 20 Years Ago

Was having brunch in Papparich Kota Damansara one of the weekends with the family. The next table was joint, big group of people, with one taking photos of the food with his SLR and the speedlight flashing away, of which I was wondering at first, what kind of electrocution was going on in the premise.

Half an hour into our meal, the girls from the next table were running around in the shop shouting excitedly. Apparently, one of the ladies sitting together, probably an aunty of the girls, were mockingly chasing them...

2 minutes into all the shouting, my forehead finally went into spasm. It's too much to handle, I stared at the aunty and stared at the running kid, and stared at the talking father, and turned to look at the kids again, as if I was gonna lose it... And NONE of them noticed that the kids they brought along were causing nuisance in a diner! One minute later, the maid finally saw my angry face and stopped the girls... whispering into her ear...

But of course, the advice was not taken in. She continued running around...

We stormed out of the place once we were done.

Parenting nowadays? No canning hor, sayang-sayang hor... What kind of stupid parenting is this? When I was younger, if I run like that, I think I were to be caned once we got home. Such a humiliation!

Marah sudah, rotan sudah, ketuk pun sudah. Feel like bringing a tali. Sometimes he would sit guai guai. and sometimes he just wont sit still. That's why when saw he is in a "car mode". will have to finish my food fast fast and bring him out from the restaurant

Btw, i just came back from Donald Durian Buffet SS2. It's still on. Premium durian eg D24 and udang merah buffet is RM15/person. The normal durian RM10/person.

nice post, and this kind of parenting method can be widely noticed in more 'advanced or developed' cities than others...once a small girl walk hit and kicked my friend murmuring 'you can't sit here, i want this table to be empty!' and her parents at the next table is busying drinking beers without telling her off! i was thinking like 'wtf? if u cant teach them, don't give birth to them!'

I just feel like slapping their faces when they do that. Normally I just stand up and let them bump into me.(big and tall mar). Then give them the WTFARK Are you still running around stare.

Or, just tell them off ni. Woi, sit down quietly or I'll get the manager.

If I were the kid, I would laugh at your stares! You are too cute lah dei.

I normally would scream out loud or ssshhhhh at the kids until the parents reacted. Sometimes I would ask the waiters to throw the kids out too.
