So we headed down to the UNESCO site in the South of KL for a day trip on the first day of Raya. Mum and Dad's last visit was about 10 years back.
The Chicken Rice Ball at the entrance of the Jonker Street was ridiculously packed. The queue was ridiculously long. People are ridiculously worshiping those rice balls! It was just plain unacceptable.
But of course, we had our share of chicken rice on the other end of Jonker Street, equally as nice, not as expensive, and not as oily.
After brunch, we started to walk. Passed by the some aromatic smell and was sucked into the store, settling down for some chilling drink after we got ourselves some pineapple tarts. Durian cendol looked like some running nose mucus. But it wasn't that bad after all.
We later avoided the crowded street and passed by the oldest temple. Walked around the hill towards the mall on what previously was a field. The funny part was, I actually thought it was the place where our first prime minister shouted the legendary Independance thingy.
We headed up towards the rooftop for the crepe cake shop. Stood around for about 2 minutes or so, and finally found our seat. Ordered 3 cakes and some tea. But apparently, 3 weren't enough. Hearing brother said it was very nice, Dad got sis to order another 3!
After the cakes, we headed back to Jonker Street. Still as crowded, and smelly, and humid... Mum went for more local products while Dad walked around looking for cafes to rest his legs. That was how we ended up in Geographer. Bro had Heineken, while I, saving Mum's worry, decided to just go for coconut drink.
And lastly, as I couldn't find my way to the famous Nyonya place my friend brought me to, and Aunty Nancy's cleanliness didn't quite appeal to the parents, we settled for Eleven just next door. It was nicer than I expected!
12 hours after we leave home, we were finally back at home. It was indeed, a very filling trip!
