On Getting High Again

Went out for a drink one afternoon in Overtime Mont Kiara. Most bars, as we know it, offer happy hours in the afternoon to attract customers. But most, the promotion isn't valid on weekends; or maybe, the promotion on weekends are not as attractive as the ones on weekdays. But anyways, Overtime it was.

We were attracted to the banner that stated Starker being only genuinely brewed German beer and all. And since we were there to drink, in we went.

The beer comes in 2 forms, Aromatic or Lager. Both comes with a tinge of sweetness; but compare to Kilkenny, the sweetness that comes in Starker are much palatable, to me. Lager, having some herbs as part of the ingredient, has some bitterness when the beer hits your tongue. So if the change of taste isn't your kinda beer, then perhaps Aromatic is the choice.

We had our happy hour indeed. Buy 1 pint free 1 pint of the same beer. 0.5mls that was too. So that was, a whole load of alcohol, what's more having been told that 1 pint of Starker has 5.5% of alcohol.

But anyways, we boys just had fun. Tried to enjoy the ambience. Other than the repeating songs when we first arrived in the bar, the arrangements and designs inside the bar is indeed comfortable. Big barrels were made the tall table and there were also benches for those who prefer to be, less high. The podium in front of the premise were also covered to extend the space of the premise.

Being German beer brewed and stored in the traditional wooden barrel, from what I observed, they actually keep the quality of the beer by limiting the shelf-life of just 7 days. And in order to keep the beer chilled, waiters in the bar actually came and change the glass of our our beers every now and then. The first time I ever seen anyone ever did that. Another plus point for this shop.

On our third pint of beer, we decided to snack. It was nearing dinner time, and we thought we might as well have something more filling and end the day at that. And that was how we had a platter of fried mushroom, fish fillet and fired pork on our table. Totally love the meats after having had 2 pints of beer earlier.

After spending like some 4 hours in the bar getting wasted, we finally cleared the bill and left happy men.

Next time. Now that we've found some place awesome, we're sure to pay another visit.
