On Leaving the Small Town

Over CNY, we drove up to a small town where I studied primary level of my education. It's so small you could probably run the whole town in half an hour. Run as in, jog... around... the town center. It's still pretty much the same compared to when we left about 13 years ago.

But of course the primary school changed. There's 2 more concrete buildings, after one of the wooden structures got burnt down back then. And the rocky garden opposite the school was filled up, probably to avoid mosquitoes breeding. There's 2 new row of shops behind the existing main street. But otherwise we didn't see much changes in the town center.

We stopped by a shop for food, one of the shops where we used to have little celebrations... Like scoring 100% in exams... Or getting the first place in the class... Or scoring the higest score in some quizes...

Oh boy... reminiscing the good old times when life was still so simple. And slow.

Got us wondering. If Dad hadn't accept the promotion to go 5 hours drive away to another isolated village; or if none of us actually applied to study in the city; or if we never had any tuitions or studied really hard for the common exams...

What would have life been now?

I probably applied to work as a desk job somewhere. LMAO.

Oh life...
