One fine Friday, we finished our class early. Considering the afternoon class only started at 3p.m., we were itchy for a meal outside of the hostel. So the 4 of us went on a half-an-hour journey to Ampang for the Yong Tau Fu. I'm not familiar with the place, therefore I have no idea where it was. LOL.
There were 2 shops situated side by side. We headed to the one on the right. Friend ordered 20 items, 12 fried and 8 steamed. Personally, am not a fan of fried tofu, not when it's not done the "Hakka" way. LOL. Mum made much better so to speak. LOL.
But the steam tau fu were quite nice. To call them "yong tau fu" would mean they're stuffed tofu. Literally, it's tofu being stuffed with some minced meat or some sort. But somehow, it's not limited to just tofu nowadays. It seems that people are stuffing every single possible vegetables available in the market. Brinjal, chili, ladies fingers. You name it.
Then again, we thought it tasted normal. Friend even commented that, if we have time we could make better 'yong tau fu'. I seconded that. But not me. Mum could definitely make better. LOL
All in all, I think it's worth the money. We had 9 pieces each. After the second round of ordering. And it summed up to about 10 bucks per person.
