On the Kolo Mee

Have always been searching for a nice Kolo Mee in town. Actually most West Malaysians would say it's pretty much 'kon lo' noodle, i.e. dry noodles. But I suppose it takes one who's really from the cat city to tell if any of the dry noodles here are similar to that back in the hometown. It is, after all, what we eat growing up.

And so, when I came across one of the stalls in the newly opened Asia Cafe in Kota Damansara bearing the pictures of Sarawak Kolo Mee, there was no hesitation of what I would be ordering whenever I needed something light for dinner when I'm there.

It didn't look exactly like what we had, I mean, I thought the main characteristics of it was the machine churned curly noodle, which is hardly seen in KL or PJ. But the taste is definitely there. It's pretty authentic in a way, because the use of char siew instead of wantons like those in dry wanton noodles.

But after many times ordering from the same stall, I actually noticed that the taste of it wasn't that all consistent, which is quite a bad thing. One time it was good, that I actually managed to get a fussy friend to say it's nice; but another time, my Mum said it's way too oily, which is pretty true for that one time.

Then again, I'm not really a fussy eater. As long as there's something that resembles what I eat growing up, I'm more than happy already. ;)

Maybe next time I should make a journey in hunting down all the stalls selling Kolo Mee in Klang Valley. After all, I do came across many other food bloggers reviewing on it in different shops... :)

Kolo Mee Mission: Operation research starts now. LOL!
