Having had 3 extra tables in Grandpa's grand birthday celebration a couple months back, the uncle thought we would use the extra tables for our Chinese New Year reunion dinner this year. And I was thinking we could go back to that classy restaurant for a second time, when Mum told me we actually would be going to another restaurant instead, due to unforeseen circumstance.
Either way, it's still something new for us to actually have our reunion dinner outside because for 20 odd years since I was born, I've always remembered we'd head over to grandpa's house for the grand dinner. Aunts would be cooking up a feast and everyone would be so bloated at the end of the dinner. Therefore, this eyar's dinner in a restaurant... something historical for our family. LOL.
We had our dinner early. Which was a good thing I suppose. Mum and Sis had food poisoning from the dried meat we had the night prior, we thought it was somewhat contaminated or something. Dad and I were fine though, just the two ladies... sensitive stomach much? Therefore... Mum and Sis were all weak and tired and nauseous the whole day. Perhaps it was a coincidence. Mum wouldn't need to cook after all, so she could just rest the whole day.
Arrived at the restaurant at 5ish and started the dinner straight away. 8 dishes in total. Quality wise; poor. Food wasn't really that nice. Service was bad. Waitress were somewhat disrespectful. In fact, the dishes came so fast that we felt as though they wanted us to finish faster! The fact is, we hadn't even finished half the dishes on the table.
When the last dish arrived, we were all beat. Stomach full to the brim. Everyone just stared at the lotus leave rice for a minute, before we decided to send it in for wrapping.
The uncles were made to drink the coffee layered liqueur I brought (More drama about it next week). Grandpa finished quite a lot of it; we thought he liked it. [He said it was too sweet for his liking later on when we asked him]. But with more than three quarter gone, at least we could finish the remaining at last...
Seeing Mum's and Sis's condition didn't get any better, what's more with Mum barely touching any of the food due to poor appetite, we were already thinking of leaving for home straight away. But we ended staying at grandpa's place for an hour or so just because everyone's there, and we didn't quite want to miss the celebration and the noise. LOL. It's Chinese New Year after all.
Headed home at 10ish, which was super early as compared to when I was in primary school... And stayed at home watching some movies, anticipating for a good show in the balcony at midnight. :D

We ate reunion outside at 5pm and the bill raised my eyebrows! The food was excellent but we had to hurry up for the bookings at 8pm. How silly. Happy Chinese New Year to you.
