Yipee! Wasn't sure where it was initially, but the batchmates going to Singapore for the friendly match [A glimpse of MUNUS by thehypocriticoafs.blogspot.com] in May did their group passport. It was for those who do not have passports. So, after asking around and learning that the immigration office is near, I thought we'd get the peeps' passport there instead of in Subang Airport.
After asking a local friend about the direction, I finally drove the travel companion and a girl housemate to Pusat Bandar Damansara to get their passport today. Gosh it's so damn near!!!
The boys filled in their forms and submitted it in smoothly, but the girl housemate on the other hand, was told to show her birth certificate. Shucks! Drove her home, grabbed her photostated copy of birth cert, and rushed back to the office.
Still unfortunately, her application was denied. The original birth certificate is required if she wants to get her passport done. Reason was... she's a Sarawakian. Awww, I empathized. We were told that Sarawakians require the state's immigration to clear all passports application, therefore they need the real birth certificate, and it requires 3 months to get it done! Option 2 would be to fly back to the land of hornbill and get it done there.
Poor housemate... she had to quit the UM squash team to Singapore for that friendly games. Darn, now the squash team is 4 people short. After KK and I quit earlier, YL followed suit as he's going to Hong Kong with the girlfriend during that period. Poor thing the best squash player couldn't go now, as she doesn't have a passport. But then again, even if she did join in the group passport, she still couldn't get it done, all because of her being a Sarawakian.
Not that I'm complaining. Hey, it's like, one of the special rules Tun Jugah demanded when Sarawak joined the formation of Malaysia last time. A bit troublesome no doubt, but all for the privilages of the native Sarawakians eh? *sniggering* Notice the small letter at the right bottom corner of our MyKad? How dumb!
Anyway, the passport was done after 2 hours. Hurrah for the efficiency of the immigration office!
Thank GOD I've got mine. Although it is expiring in November 2009. Blergh! But still, I get to travel overseas. Over the seas! Over the whatever....
So... Cambodia here we come! Hurrah! In May that is. Final exam dear, do come quick! For once in the entire life, this is the first time I'm looking forward for one nerve-wrecking exam. All because there's a sweet juicy reward after that. *sniggering*
