On the Post-Call Euphoria

I think I'm turning into the young doctors that I didn't like, the ones who complain to their mommies about long on-calls and long working hours and staying awake overnight not sleeping is too tiring and what nots. Used to think they're such wimps. If they'd known it's going to the life of a doctor to be such, then they shouldn't even take up medicine in the first place. Until I myself started the 24 hours call, from 8 in the morning, until 8 in the morning of the following day, which later followed by classes and lectures. Total zombie I tell you.

But I suppose I haven't reach the boiling point just as yet, though sometimes it's pretty frustrating and annoying that the senior MO treat us like shit. As one of the colleagues said, domestic violence in the hospital to us junior doctors and medical students are just inevitable. Either we swallow the anger, or we quit. Heck no way I'm quitting, so I guess I'd just have to swallow the pride and be the dumb.

One day post-call, when all the feeling of vomiting and headache kicked in, accompanied by the tired eyelids where any second of sitting still would lead to absence seizures (i.e. falling asleep), we walked towards the dining hall for our breakfast.

Along the corridor, there was another doctor, from another department. Walked passed him, and gosh... Out of nowhere, I turned to my female colleague and said the most unexpected thing.

"Wooots... Cute doctor!"

For some odd reasons, that moment, I remembered I was pretty high. Like the times when you get high on alcohol. Something to research on I suppose? LOL.

Post-call euphoria. Or perhaps it's just that the workload's finally off the shoulder. After a bad call with bad senior doctors. Hmmm. :P

By the way, that doctor had some resemblance of Julian Hee. And my friend looked at me, smirking. LOL
