There was a lady who was admitted due to labor at 38 weeks maturation. It's a termed baby, but 2 weeks shy from the expected date of delivery. So professor squeezed us as to what else we wanted to ask in a antepartum bleed, apart from show.
Some said infections. Some said trauma. Some said local causes, like fibroids and what nots. Then the foreign elective students said "Coitus."
SEX?
Professor was very pleased with the answer, and asked them ther students why having sexual intercourse causes bleeding. We said, trauma? Maybe the frictions? Maybe the infection from the semen?
And professor then turned to the other elective student from the university overseas.
Because it induces labor.
Correct! Professor was very pleased again. And we were told we never update ourselves on what the department had done over the past few years. Researches after researches were being carried out and published in the journals as well as local newspaper, that having sex at term will induce labor.
So when I search more about it online, I finally found my answers.
Might've been known to all the mothers out there. But definitely something new to me!
