The other day the lecturer of ours told us something that I never knew.
Everytime we cut our big toe nail, we tend to want to cut the edge deeper to make the toe-nail arches, not solely cosmetic, but rather because we find it fun to go deep into the edge and pick out that bits of nail.
But who'd have known, doing so would only lead to the toe-nail growing into the edge later on, causing more pain; which was why, at times we get those very painful big toe.
The theory behind this is, our toe-nail grow in a forward direction, as far as where the cutting edge is concerned. So when there's the cutting of the arch, the nail would just grow in all directions, which led to in-growing nail.
Don't believe me? Give it a try! :D I know I did. LOL
