On the Ching Chong Fern Lie

I saw a young patient with all these abnormal behaviors, smiling by himself, leg twitching, tongue protruding and all. Quite typical of a patient with Schizophrenia. Most of the history comes from his parents who were really worried about his presentations. I mean which parents wouldn't right?

So when we were in the consultation room with another medical officer who were really persistent in getting me to elicit more auditory hallucination from him because of his suicide attempts, his mother came to me, backing the doctor and her son, asking me silently, "Is this 精神分裂症?"

I looked at her. Trying to analyize what 分裂症 really means. And I thought it was bipolar disorder.

"No no, usually 分裂症 they will have all these manic symptoms, like they'll talk non-stop, they'll feel as if they've got special power and they don't need to sleep yet they still feel so energetic. Stuff like that."

She looked at me, "Oh... I thought his symptoms fits 分裂症 cuz from the poster I read outside it looks like that."

"I think it's not lah."

Pondering.

"Wait, erm. I don't know la."

Pondering.

"Auntie, I think maybe ask someone who has better mandarin. Mine really bad."

Pondering.

During lunch time, I asked my friend. Is Schizophrenia 精神分裂症?

"Yeah."

@.@

OMG! Next time I should just say I don't know. LMAO.
