On Marrying Late

Here's a piece of interesting news... It was in the Star 2 weeks back.

Apparently, Malaysians are getting married later nowadays.

Some department did some research saying the average marrying age of Malaysians has increased from 23 to 27, something like that...

Various reasons given includes financial instability, have yet to find the right person, and the more ridiculous reason I thought was, scared of commitment! Like, what the heck? You haven't even try, why give up?

But what made me puzzled was this highlighted paragraph:

Why only blame it on the women?

I mean, yes sure, men's sperm production doesn't cease until after death. But it's true that women only have that certain amount of eggs and eventually they'll be egg-less after menopause. Plus, there are a lot of risk factors for single unmarried childless sexually inactive ladies, cervical cancer being one. Not that I'm encouraging ladies to have pre-marital sex and make babies, but, that's what medically proven.

But anyways, I thought it's a good thing the population growth shall slow down. It kills off the economy somehow, but we've got too huge a population boom on this planet I think we should slow down.

I might be wrong. I know it's a very narrow-minded view.

But anyhoos, what the heck, 10.4% of the single males in Sarawak are enjoying single life. LOL.
