On Drinking Concentrated Sugar

The criteria for diagnosing Type 2 diabetes mellitus:
1. Fasting plasma glucose >7 mmol/L
2. Random plasma glucose >11.1 mmol/L

3. One abnormal laboratory value is diagnostic in symptomatic individuals; two values are needed in asymptomatic people.

Oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is only required for borderline cases and for diagnosis of gestational diabetes; Whereby, impaired glucose tolerance would have the value of 7.8 to 11.o mmol/L two hours after the OGTT.

Don't understand? LOL.

Basically it's the test whereby the patient are asked to drink concentrated sugar water (75g of sugar in 100ml of water).

You'll be asked to fast overnight for about 10 hours. First thing first, fasting blood sugar is tested, whereby blood is taken at 0 hours. Then, you'll be asked to drink the concentrated sugar water, and try to finish the drink within 10 minutes. After that, they shall not move and should totally stay relax, avoiding any sort of physical activities.

Some may suffer from nausea, unfortunately. Some would even vomit. Concentrated sugar drink is not that nice a drink after all.

After one hour, blood is drawn.

After another hour, blood will be taken again for the second time.

Should the final result after 2 hours fall below 7.8 mmol/L, it shall indicate that the subject is not diabetic.

Although I wonder why my result is lower in the first hour, and rises again after 2 hours...
