The week has been quite a busy one. Or at least it was supposed to be. After the whole month of so called 'holiday' during the Community Residency Programme of which I did not even touched single text book, we're now back to the ward and the patients.
Back to the 7th and 8th floor of the main building so it seems.
Apparently, we've got 2 super seniors who were graduated from the same medical school as our teaching clinicians. Have met the one who will be teaching us in the later half of the posting, while we've got someone Keng to teach us for the first half of this internal medicine posting.
Slim. Reasonable height. Straight hair combed to the side. No specs. Clean shaven. Nephrologist.
And super smart.
Or at least I thought so. He didn't teach us the basics anymore. I mean, true enough, we've had one installment of internal medical posting before, so it's pretty much like brushing up this time round. But everytime when he did the discussions, it'll be like, WHOA! I CAN NEVER THINK LIKE THAT! Like seriously, I wonder when will I ever be half as good as him. And it worried me to think that the finals is just 4 months away...
So right after the introductory class on the first day, it was down to long case presentation and bed side teaching straight away the following day.
Dr. Nephro apparently starts his class at 9 every morning. With 2 long cases presentations by students followed by some lengthy but beneficial comments, we rushed to the ward for our bed-side teaching sessions. And more often than not, as how we see it, it's going to be quite some tiring month. Our classes ends sometime after 1p.m. everyday, if not later. And it was more than one occasion when I was still in the ward at 1.30p.m. listening to the comments he made in rectifying our techniques.
Not that it's boring, it's pretty interesting actually. Just that...
I'm pretty sleep deprived lately.
Evidently, even my group members agreed that I looked pretty weary... Oh, and I dozed off in ALL the lectures we had this week. Even to the Parkinson's disease lecture given by the neurologist who came back from Australia, who has this really heavy accent, and undoubtly one of the most drool-able accent to listen to.
Hate myself to doze off in front of him...
