On Ordering Coffee Beans

It was a torture living on the top floor of this apartment just a stone's throw away from Ikea. Dad rented the whole unit for the week they're here. No doubt it's like a five star hotel, to have our own room and shower and astro and air-conditioning and erm, I haven't actually checked out the pool and the gym, no jacuzzi, not that I cared, but there was NO internet connections!!! And it was a serviced apartment with resident access card and there're only 2 keys available, that it'll be too troublesome to go out without getting a good excuse from the family...

Until, well, I told the parents I had to go out and service on the auto window that got jammed and wouldn't scroll up. Amazingly, it took just half an hour to get the window fixed. Dad and sis went off to Digital Mall to check on a new lappie for her studies purpose while I told them I need to get a place to sit down and update on my lappie. I had my Maxis wireless broadband with me, but at 19th floor, it just didn't work. So I ended up in Coffee Bean in Jaya 33.

So they said there's free internet. A good excuse for me to check on my porn. Oops, I mean emails. And catch up on my bloggie here. Not to forget posting the huge chunks of scheduled posts since I won't be able to get online when I'm 19 floors above ground. So yea, while you're reading this post on the 2nd of October, I actually posted this on the 29th of September. What do you call it again? Pre-posting?

I went to the counter and glanced at the menu of confusing list. Espresso, latte, and whatever. I remembered asking some friend about the whole lots of different names for "coffee". But considering I'm not that much of a fan of coffee or hanging out at Starbucks or Dome or CoffeeBean or whatever classy coffee-shops around, I never really paid much attention.

Me: Espresso please. Single. Yea, having here.

And the waitress gave me this small cup, barely filled to the half. I looked at it, and looked at the waitress.

Me: Hmmm. That's it?
Waitress: Yeah.
Me: Hmmm... Where do I get the hot water?
Waitress: You want hot water?
Me: If not, how am I suppose to drink this?
Waitress: That'll be Americanyadayada...
Me: Uhh... Then what am I supposed to do with this?
Waitress: Erm... Nevermind, I'll get you a cup of hot water.
Me: Thanks.

Very embarrassing I know. I shall make a note I'll just get latte next time. Plus, I don't even know what you call those girls taking order at the counter. Definitely not waitress, I know. Just never go and find out about it.

Lecture me if you wish, I'm happy to read down at the comment box. But if there's one person who would give me that lecture, I know who he'll be.

By the way, hanging out on a working afternoon is pretty cool... Lotsa smart-looking working adults. And they're just so beautiful... Not to forget, TrueFitness is just across the shop, so yeah, lotsa hunks too!

Anyways, back to coffee...

I just don't get them.

ban coffee bean!

i am not a starbucks fan either, but i have tasted almost everything on the menu, save for expresso... cos i can get expresso from my office pantry coffee machine.. and latte.. they say latte is for women.. so i didnt touch that...

the "waitress/er" is called a barista.. and i've worked in a coffee chain before 8 years ago so thats why i know what expresso contains, what latte contains and how they are made.. yadayadayada...

btw, i dint know there's service apartments near IKEA! not since i've worked here for a year and a half!

try mocha : a blend of coffee and chocolate, simply the best. alternately, caramel machiato is simply heavenly, available at Starbucks. On a hot day, nothing beats a (mocha!) frappucino
