That Charades Game

Anne Hathaway as Jane Austen in Becoming Jane

Right. Had the opportunity to join their game night. Shamefully I'd say, I'm not so much a good player. Picked a card, and was given the title 'Jane Austen'.

"You have to make sure he knows what is that thing..."
"He's not as dumb..."

Thing is, I am quite dumb. I wouldn't want to think of her as another person. I did have a faint idea she is some sort of a writer. Some famous writer for some famous books. But I couldn't confirm. And so I was like, is she a writer? Or is she the character of the book? Some literature maybe?

Blardy hell...

And the doc asked the Japanese expat to tell me exactly what it is, but ended acting himself. Ugh, how... more dumb could I be? Truthfully, I could never play such a game involving so much names of movies and songs and even worse, books. I didn't get any of the books they're acting out, apart from the 20000 Leagues Under The Sea, or something like that. Some of the classic movies didin't help despite me thinking myself as a movie-goer. And most of the songs were like, I never heard of too!

But I did have a good laugh. These fellas really play hard, if you know what I mean. If only I could prepare myself to as much general knowledge...

Funny thing was, before I met up with them, I spent 1 whole hour getting lost on the highway and ended up somewhere heading towards Batu Caves or Bandar Baru Selayang... Pretty scary really.

By the way, in case you haven't know, Charades is a word guessing game. In the form most commonly played today, it is an acting game in which one player acts out a word or phrase, often by pantomiming similar-sounding words, and the other players guess the word or phrase. The idea is to use physical rather than verbal language to convey the meaning to another party. -Wikipedia

Relax. It was a near impossible mission. Jane Austen?! Like come on, how do you act her out? Stand still looking uppity? No one could guess anyway! :P

Who you play with? How many players?

Ooo...I love Jane Austen and have all her books. Remember titles like 'Pride and Prejudice', 'Sense and Sensibility'?

You've gotta be totally on the same frequency as the actor, or be extremely lucky in your guesses! Nothing to do with being dumb. Play more!
