Wonder what makes people all so gaga over the gluteus maximus. Now, don't you ever think dirty, I'm just being all anatomical. So, let's go gaga over some bubble butt today.
During the OSPE briefing the other day,
Coursemate: Okay, so everybody knows what this part of the body is right? Now tell me what is this piece of muscle here.
Juniors: Gluteus maximus.
Coursemate: What's the clinical significance?
Juniors: Injection.
Juniors: Injection.
Coursemate: Where's the safest place for injection?
Juniors: Upper outer quadrant.
Juniors: Upper outer quadrant.
Coursemate: Why?
Juniors: No sciatic nerve and major vessels.
Coursemate: Okay good. Proceed....
Okie... so let's proceed shall we?
Coursemate#1: This is the anal canal.
Coursemate#2: Oh Ok.
Coursemate#1: What's the clinical significance?
Coursemate#2: Anal sex...
Coursemate#2: Anal sex...
Coursemate#1: Oooo nice one... Let's go sex education!
Muahahahahahaa.... And nope, the part with anal sex was made up. LOL
8 Jujus:
Can't really see what is that...
it's a dissected cadaver. the cadaver is lying on his tummy, and all the parts from the butt to the toe were dissected. so there u see the lines of vessels and muscles and the skin being flipped open
In Taiwan, the medical students treat the cadaver as their "Honoured Teacher" and with much respect. Some are donated, so they actually pay respects to the family of the deceased and invite the family to their graduation ceremony.
@ will: true... tat's y i didn't post the cadaver wit the hair... btw, the one in our hall, they're unclaimed corpse... or that's wat we're told. we don't really have donated cadavers nowadays. else we would have had our hands on dissecting in our clinical years, which for what we know, there's not enough for us to do hands-on nowadays.
*gasp!
I refuse to believe what I see! This cannot be the butt!
*sob sob
awww dear... we tried all we could...
OSPE is simple. Just wait till you start your OSCEs. LOL
...which is what's making me lose sleep these days!
Gotta say, nice of you guys to brief your juniors. Say, isn't it part of the curriculum for a briefing or a mock OSPE to be carried out for the noobs?
josh, it's not part of the curriculum ler... we just did it because it's part of the tradition in the buddy line system. :P
and... don't remind me of OSCE, it's the last thing i want to think about now. bleh
