The tourist board warned us not to ever believe in anyone telling us to go on their tuk-tuks and head to some temples unknown or unheard off because we would be scammed. So as we were walking back, there was this guy who claimed he was from the North.
Thai: Today King Birthday, go yellow tuk tuk. Free of charge. Ask to go Black Buddha. Black Buddha from Ayutthaya. You know Ayutthaya? There flood. Government bring Buddha to Bangkok.
And he grabbed my map, drew the location of the temple where his Black Buddha was placed.
It was like, just by the river on our way back.
Thai: You know yellow tuk-tuk? Take yellow tuk-tuk. King Birthday. Today free. Government free petrol. Today free. You take one, ask bring to Black Buddha.
We nodded our heads and quickly walked away.
Crossed some main road and while waiting for the traffic lights, he came back from behind suddenly.
Thai: Why no take tuk-tuk?
I jumped up, giving him a scare himself.
Thai: Sorry sorry. Why you no take tuk tuk? There got yellow tuk-tuk.
We just shook our head vigorously and walked off. LOL.
When I turned around to look at him, he went to the tuk-tuk himself. What a scam!
