On Medical Pronunciation

Pronouncing medical terms sometimes are a bit of a headache. We Malaysians, it seemed, since we learnt Malay language since kindy and with all this 'baku' learning, it might've been quite easy if English could be pronounced in similar way. But sometimes, they just don't. Silent K. Silent T. Silent L. G as J-ay... If you know what I mean. Read this. I was amazed I spent so much time in my blog 3 years back. No wonder I was so lousy now, didn't study enough... Grrr...

Anyways. Came across this during my revision.

Ay-mo-ro-sis... Erm... Fu'j'ax? Fu'g'ax?

There are plenty of medical terms that are alien to me. The world has so much sound with so many languages being spoken.

Heya, I'm also a medical student and just came across your blog. A question on amaurosis fugax came up in my Semester 5 paper in June 2011, I made a diagnosis of "acute unilateral anopia". Major fail... If only I knew earlier...
