On Not Environmental Friendly

A friend of mine made a remark in the operation theater the other day. Healthcare is not an environmental friendly service. Reason being, more often than not, a lot of the procedures were done in an aseptic environment. Disposable gloves, disposable dressing set, disposable this and that...

And in the operation theater, surgeons wear disposable scrubs suit. And there's this disposable drape... All for the purpose of keeping things sterile, to reduce the risk of contamination.

But... the drapes... they're plastics... And are of one time use...

I wonder how much waste does a hospital generate...

Tell your friend, where do you think all the money they got from the patients go? But since half of the stuffs including gloves, scrubs and whatever are recycable, so okay la...

If can recycle, so no waste la.
I would suggest that to save $$$, all surgeons and nurses should be nude in the operating theater since the patients would be asleep!

why would it be environmentally friendly :P But yes it generates a lot of waste.

Nudity in the OT would probably encourage more bacterial growth :P
