On the Collapsed Man

We were on-call in the intensive care unit one night when we were told 2 more cases coming in. After waiting for like about 30 minutes or so, we decided to go to the trauma center instead. And there he was, the patient who was supposed to be sent to the ICU. Indonesian man, middle age, pretty good looking, crew-cut hair, well built body, in pain. Presented with sudden blindness on the day of admission, associated with 5 days of severe persisting headache and vomiting. CT scan showed multiple rim lesions, likely to be abscess or metastases. MRI is required to confirm the main cause.

We weren't able to get any history apart from the case notes, the patient was in severe pain and would only muttered softly to answer our questions. More often than not, we couldn't figure out what he was saying that we asked the same question again... So we finally gave up when...

Another Chinese man came in. *Eye turner* Well built, rugged look, but good command of English.

'I'm his good friend,' he said. That's when I sensed something is wrong. Terribly wrong.

We found out later that, the patient work in a canteen, stays alone in a flat, and has been here for a decade. But one thing very peculiar, whenever the 'friend' needs to reassure some information, he would lean over to the patient's ear and ask. It was as if he were to kiss him already. I mean, an employer and his employee wouldn't be of such a close relationship.

It's just this hunch, that I think they might both be of having sexual preference for men. The patient was in body-hugging tight shirts and pants (which sort of revealed the humongous package on the groin). And the 'friend' was well, maybe more straight-looking, but his vibes... Not so straight.

So we saw the patient being transferred to the ward. The doctor came by and ask some more questions to the 'friend'.

- they were acquainted for 11 months.
- they play squash together.
- and the 'friend' comes with another peculiar looking man.
- the 'friend' takes him home to take care of him for the past few days.
- no history of trauma or drug abuse.

There's only one thing I could think of. They're a couple. But most suspicious of all, 'I'm his good friend.' he said earlier in the trauma center.

Hmmm... I might have found myself a new favourite patient to dig into. LOL.

But if my deduction were correct, there's only one word I could think of... *awwww* So schweeet...
