On the Unexpected Visit

This time round going back to the hometown saw us visiting downtown Kuching, which was, actually quite rare of us, if there was no special occasions or reasons. Apparently, since the construction of an eyesore along the riverbank of Sarawak River, I didn't think I was ever there, not in the day, let alone at night.

Like I said, this year, somehow things took a twist because Dad actually okay-ed of driving to the waterfront one night. In the past, he would be all dilly-dally saying it's not safe and too far and it's too late at night or what nots.

And we even parked the car and went down for a stroll! Took some photos of the residence of the Yang Di-Pertua as well as...

The eyesore!

Had since its construction last year, thought of it negatively, because it somehow changed the entire scene along the river... The postcard picture of the waterfront of Kuching City would never be the same again.

But then, after seeing it for myself, I think I might've misjudged it... It actually turned out to be quite alright... Would definitely pay another visit with the tripod the next time round.

Went up to the oldest temple in the state to find the absence of the giant josstick this year. Mum said the residents complained of air pollution. Thought it's better in one way... But also misses the smell of the smoke of the josstick during the major celebrations.

We ended our nights stopping by for a quick shot at the signature cat statue of the city.

What a surprise indeed. Never thought Dad would agree to drive us around the city. We were flying off the following day.

Or maybe it was just me being more sensitive this year.

But either way, I really enjoyed the time spent with the family...
