On the Eunuch...

So... we were at this shop in Central Market specifically selling all those traditional Chinese wear, and they've got some hats similar to that of what the Emperor would wear in the past, meant for the children apparently. But out of mischief, I decided to put it on and parade around inside the shop after Dad and I picked our shirts.

After we left, I kept on adoring myself in that hat. Speaking of being narcissistic. But I thought I look pretty adorable. It'd have been great if I were in some traditional clothes instead. Then again, I still thought the hat looked really cute. And I looked pretty good.

So after we got home, I uploaded the pic and put it as my profile picture in Facebook.

And a friend who saw it, left a comment.

Later that day, I interrogate him over MSN. He tried to express what he thought in Cantonese, only to be quite in vain. I didn't get what he was saying, except for one word. I looked like a "eunuch".

A eunuch?!

I went online and wiki-ed. And found out some really sad story behind the history of eunuchs. More to read if you're free here. But one thing I found interesting, do you know that Cheng-Ho was also a eunuch?

I am surprised you weren't aware of their sad bitter tales. They were often too poor and had to be sold to the palaces. That's why the Ching dynasty was overthrown...
