On the Dream of Premiere Universities

Admit it, we've been longing about entering the premier university since young. Or maybe it was just me. Been dreaming of going to Harvard...

or Oxford...

or Cambridge...

...since as long as I remember, knowing it was the top universities in the world when I was still in primary school even. But as I grew older, I realized, that well, it's quite impossible. I'm not as smart as I thought I was. I'm just pretty much average.

Which, well, didn't quite secure me a scholarship. Let alone an entrance to those top-ranked university. But I guess, I should be happy that I was accepted to where I am. 5 years in the medical school here pretty much knocked some senses into me. 1) I'm not smart. 2) I'm not smart. 3) I'm not smart.

But that didn't quite stop me from dreaming you see. Was still dreaming of having at least some affiliation with those top-ranking universities. But not so much of Cambridge or Oxford nowadays, not sure why. Just that, well, maybe the preferences somehow switched to Asian. The University of Hong Kong especially.

National Taiwan University.

Even National University of Singapore next door (although the ranking in the QS rankings are, well, not that much next door).

Or Peking University.

But in fact, if I were to go further, I would really love to go to the America, or Canada. The mentioning of the names of these premiere universities, even though not so much of an Ivy League, pretty much get me excited.

Not sure why though, the Australasian didn't quite entice me, although Tolkien's book filmed down under really attract me. I suppose it just didn't came into my mind of wanting to settle there.

Then again, I remembered what senses knocked into me since the past 5 years. 1) I'm not smart. 2) I'm not smart. 3) I'm not smart.

So. I guess I'll just dream on, and drool over the main pages of these universities. Am not really researching anyways. I'm sure time will come when I need to decide again. Till then, I'll take one step at a time.
