On the Substance-induced Psychoses

I asked one of my tutors today: say in the Malaysian legal point of view, anyone caught as a pusher or user of the recreational drugs like Meth and sort would be put in jail, regardless or not he's got psychoses symptoms; but let's say, this person who uses these recreational drugs come to or being brought to a hospital, are we obliged to report them to the police?
Nope. He answered swiftly.

Apparently, in the medical point of view, these are patients. Substance-induced psychosis, i.e. a person who took ICE for example, started hallucinating or developing some abnormal behaviour in the society or in the family, are somewhat considered as a disease in the eye of a psychiatric.

He added that, these people are not committing any serious crime, they're just abusing these substance behind closed doors. It's their personal lives, who are we to interfere? So when they come to us because they have these problems, because of these substances, we treat them.

But having said that, if they're caught in the streets by the police, regardless of what mental state they're in, they'd be thrown into the jail, or the rehab center. To the law-enforcers apparently, "You take cannabis, it's a type of illegal drug, you go to jail."

Apparently, our beloved country at the moment, have only considered opioid e.g. heroin as a form of narcotics, although soon enough amphetamine-like substance e.g. ecstacy, ICE, ketamine and such form of recreational drugs, are going to be classified as another form of narcotic, which would subject anyone caught of consuming these substances to a rehabilitation center.

Having said that, any excessive possession of such substances, i.e. possessing too much a quantity, I believe would still subject the person to life-sentence, or maybe death penalty; similar to that of heroine as far as I could remember, unless the law changed already.

Which was also what the tutor said, that if the patient is a pusher, he'd consider of reporting.

I have no qualms about all these law really. As how the tutor enlightened me, I think what he said is right in so many ways. But having said that, there's one thing I think we all should know. Those visiting Amsterdam or any part of the world that allows marijauna legally, should not be taking the flight back to Malaysia within a month after the last consumption. Urine test could still be positive within that period. And by any unlucky chance you're stopped at the custom, God knows what would happen.

Rehabilitation center is pretty much like social destruction arch. You walk through a man who was caught because you took 2 pills, and you come out on the other side a social outcast.

Period.

Apparently, substance abuse is still not that much of a major medical illness.

I'm just interested because, I'm curious. LOL.

On a side note, guess what I found. Click on the image for the review! :D

haha we talked about that too. but if you're caught by the police, it's no go. court case gonna take a loooooong time before it's settled, seeing how our legal system works. by then, you'd have already served your days in the rehab as long as the intended sentence. LOL.

don have that movie lar... but i read the review, very interesting ler. substance-abuse related theme. i wanna watch!
