On the No-no

There were some grandmother beliefs in a hospital, or a clinic, just like how the coffin dealer said when the lid closes, that particular coffin would be sold of the following day.

When I was attached to a clinic not long ago, there was one afternoon after lunch that the entire clinic was so empty. So I was walking around, and the nurses at the nurses' station who were reading newspaper looked up at me and smiled.

So I made the most unacceptable remark in a clinic. "No patient."

The nurse's eyes widen, because I just said those forbidden spells. Apparently, that clinic had a belief that when one of the staff said something like what I did, patients came in non-stop and causes the staffs to wear themselves out.

True enough, patients came in continuously, even at 15 minutes to 5, with about 3 more patients still waiting for consultations.

But I thought it'd be good business no?

Fast forward a couple months later when I was in the trauma and emergency center, it seemed that the staff nurse there scolded one of them in the previous group who tapped his fingers on the counter, because apparently, 5 minutes after he did that, 3 crashing patients were being pushed in through those doors, and the whole resuscitating theatre was in a chaos where all the doctors and nurses were running around and shouting to save the dying patients.

But then again, no matter how much I tapped my fingers on the counter when I was on-call in the trauma center, it was still as quiet. Apparently, it meant that the doctors were too free and got time to tap their fingers on the table. Which I had, repeatedly.

So, grandmother stories in the trauma center, denied. LOL
