On the Generation Gap

My two cents, I felt that young adults nowadays, especially those who are living in the metropolitan city, doesn't fancy an early marriage. Whoever agree with me, raise up your legs!

But then again, it's hard to convince the older generation to this thought, especially the Chinese parents! And yeah, I suppose you could've guess what I'm gonna write about. At 23, still single despite highly eligible, who wouldn't be worried right? I'm talking none other than the old folks. I've been getting urges from them, which one amongst my girl friends that I fancy. I have yet to answer that questions. I love a lot of them, so much that I think I don't know who to pick.

So the last time that they asked, I remembered I answered hastily, "It didn't work out."

Sympathetically, they replied, "Oh, don't give up lar. Still got other girls."

But I guess it worked because they didn't bring up the girlfriend issue for a while...

Until recently when they advanced further than I'd have thought.

Mum: We'll put grill in your room.
Me:
No I don't want those grills, I like them bare and open like this.

Dad
: But it's dangerous, you might fall out!

Me
: I'm 23! Why would I fall out of the window unless I commit suicide?

Mum
: Accidents could happen.

Me: Not to someone as young as I am.
Dad: You never know.
Me: I'm pretty sure I could stand pretty firmly, not like sis.

Sis smirked.

Mum: Okay, but think about the future too. It's for safety issues.
Me
: I'm at 20th floor, with no balconies outside, and the
next window is more than 5 metres away, and we have 4 floors above us.
Mum
: Not that, when you have kids how?

Me
: KIDS?

Mum: Yes, next time when you got married and got kids! They might accidentally climbed up the window sills without you or your wife noticing!
Me
: My God, MUM!?!?!?!

And I'd have thought it's a simple matter of wanting to have a grill fixed to the window of my room at 20th floor. -.-"

Who says you get to decide everything after your 21st birthday?

Oh...I'm agreed with your mum. Better put on the grill before your future kids come out from "whoever there".
