The ENT clinic in our hospital was set up since a couple of decades ago, so naturally there were some instruments that were there since then and is already over 30 years old by now. But of course, over the years, upgrade had been done with more high-tech equipments such as electronic microscop and all.
One of the very very old outdated techniques was to examine the nose and throat using the reflection from the bulls eye lamp with this circular mirror attached to the forehead of the doctor. With that, the lights will be reflected into the nose or the oral cavity. But of course, the newer technology was to examine using a direct bulb from the forehead of the doctor.
So, the bullseye lamp. We were taught how to use one day during the introductory class, I didn't quite noticed how the doctor aligned the light so after class I thought I'd give it a try myself. Who would've knew, blody *&#^Q$#*($@#**(&% the lamp was so hot.
And I got a blister on my tumb instantly.
