On a Black Leg

Don't hate me. But I just love this. TZ "puked" so many times when I described the whole image earlier when the internet connection was down. Remember about pearl beading?

I came across the idea of writing about this gas gangrene while doing my studies back then.

So what is gas gangrene? It is a deadly form of infection caused by a bacteria called Clostridium perfringens. The bacteria will produce gas inside the necrotic cells. Since the wound is necrotic, it will appear blackish, like that of frostbite, if you've heard about it.

It is a form of medical emergency and management has to be done quickly before the whole leg goes dead beyond saving, and by then the only solution would be...

... amputation.
