On Crow Shooting Day

It was one fine day on the first of July if I'm not mistaken, we were all tied down and bugged up with all the preparations for our finals (then), when we heard lots of gun shots. It was a Saturday I remember, or a Sunday, for I was woken up by all those sounds of the gun shots. I didn't bother to come out and check who were murdered and what not, for less than 10 minutes later, another shot was heard. First thought in mind, the replay of 513 as a lot of racial-provokers were expecting. What more safer than to stay locked up in my room?

But after hours of numerous shootings, I finally left the room for the date that I had down town in KL. It was raining crows. Literally. Proffesional shooters so it seemed, were shooting at all those aviary. Finally the municipal council did something about the free car-beautifying business in Klang.

Upon coming back from town in the evening, the shootings still continued. Men were all over the hospital compound hunting down the birds. Empty bullet casings were all over the ground, measuring up to 2.5 inches long. Not a pretty sight.

What's uglier, women and kids alike picking up all the victims and putting them into the plastic bag.

Upon further gossips, I found out that these shooters were paid for each of the crow they hunted. But logics would've justified that, if they really were hoping to earn from that, they'd probably need to spend instead of earning. Bullets alone cost about as much as one dead crow. And to consider the possibility of missed shots, I'm surprised they could earn any at the end of the day.

But I guess the most they could gain from the annual crow shooting event, so I've heard, probably would be the satisfaction of firing gunshots.
