It is actually bigger than I thought it was. More developed indeed. Small it might be, but having been born and growing up in places of such density and size, I think I'm quite contented with it. I'm referring to Maran town, latitude 3'36”N, longitude 102'42”E, halfway between Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan, where we are posted for the community residency programme.
I mean, well, when we heard about the community residency programme, we thought it was like living in a village or some sort, like what we had last year in Sarawak. Divided and sleeping in different houses, having stepfathers and stepmothers and step siblings and what not.
But instead, we stayed in an empty house. The boys cleaned the house since they arrived earlier. Stories heard was, the house was in such a filthy condition that you could ever imagined. But seeing the clean white tiles as I stepped in, I guess I wouldn’t be complaining much. Maybe the temperature. But I guess that’s about it.
The town is mainly of Malay population. Chinese and Indians exist, and the aborigines live in the villages not far away from the main town. There are a few rows of shophouses, as well as a sundry mart, called Tunas Manja. There’s even a 7-11 shop there too!
I grew up in such a town when I was younger. So I went to a small primary school with only 2 classes in each level. Chinese population was quite large back then though… So it was still okay with finding Chinese food. Not that it’s much of a problem to me, I don’t find any problem dining other food as well.
By the way, there’s a waterfall as well! Pahang is just full of them if you ask me. While we were looking for attractions in town so that we would have some place to go to chill, we came across the Taladas waterfall. What a bliss! The sound of the gallons of water flowing angrily into a pool at the bottom of the fall… and rainbow showing from the light refraction…
I think I would pretty much enjoy the place after all, since I was born and stayed in small towns of such a size when I was younger anyways.
Stay tuned for the repertoire of the waterfall visit. Watch this column. :D

Yeah, I was kinda waiting for the X-rated part too. :P
Looks like not too bad a place though - maybe we can all make a trip there someday. ;)
I'm so so so bored ... maybe i should make a trip to Maran tomorrow :p
I caught a young malay couple making out at the waterfalls. Gal wore tudung summore.

Looks like a serene place to get away from the stress of the city.
You guys slept on the air mattresses? Wouldn't your backs hurt? :\
Ahhh...these pictures are making me miss Malaysia so much...
*sadness*
a bit disappointed there r no pics of the waterfall n the beautiful scenery there. i am not particularly interested in Maran town itself but the natural surroundings :)
