On Missing the One Week Family

Friend #1: I miss Tino...
Friend #2: Me too...

You see, for the Baktisiswa Sarawak programme we had for one week in Bintangor Sarawak, we stayed in a longhouse. We were divided into smaller groups and were arranged to stay in particular house with the local families. Therefore we had our foster parents as well as siblings.

I never could get along well with kids. I don't really like them that much. Compared to adults. But apparently, kids at the longhouse, they were really active and well, of course some were pretty naughty. There were a few amongst the naughty ones that really, sorta got on my nerves, shall leave the story for other days.

But there's this one particular kid by the name Valentino who became the centre of attention amongst all of them Chinese participants. He wasn't shy amongst strangers, and were easy to get along with the elder "brothers" and "sisters". Not to forget, naughty and playful.

Somehow, having brown hair instead of black and relatively fair compared to his peers make him stood out to all of us. I'm sure a lot of them would remember him for quite some time.

But then again, like I said, I'm not good with kids...
