I watched The Queen today. I've got to say it's definitely worth something. At least it lives up to its quality of being one of the Oscars winner. Helen Mirren definitely played a good part in the whole movie. I do believe a lot would've watched the movie, so I'm not really going to do any critics of any sort. Following this personal thoughts I had on Disturbia a while ago, I think I definitely should blabble about this amazing movie.
I first came to know about the movie when there's all this coverage about it being one of the most promising winner in the Academy Award, and as predicted, the "Queen" did bagged the honour of being the best actress. I somehow did read somewhere that Queen Elizabeth II personally invited Helen for a private meeting. How cool was that?!
As the movie started out with The Queen being portrait-ed by this painter, and was speaking some really heavy tongue, it got me a while to really get use to the conversation. But soon enough, I started to find out how much I actually began to like her.
There's no wonder why Helen and the Queen herself are such popular people. I mean, from what I know the movie was based on the real and never before unexposed history from the tragedy of Diana's death. I got engrossed alright, if it were real, I totally would kiss her. I mean, she basically kneeled down to Blair! I never followed the story of Diana and the father of the 2 princes charming, but the accident pretty much gave me the memory that it was a worldwide story, and it ends there. I might be wrong about my facts, and although I am 38 at times, I'd rather stay out of the Royal business.
It amazed me how Britains still loved their King and Queen or any of those Royal family members so much. I mean, if our Head of the Instituition passed away, half of the citizen would not even care. For one, I personally would be one of the half. It would probably be a week later that I realized some BIG people died. LOL.
Anyway, back to the Queen, in one simple sentence, by the end of the movie, I became obsessed of Helen Mirren and Queen Elizabeth II herself. Heck why not, Helen Mirren is so sweet while the Queen in Buckhingham just simply owned a wardrobe that could lasts her months, or years perhaps. LOL. If it's based on facts, I got to say I admired the Queen even more, i) a mechanic during the war (AWESOME!), 2) had 11 Prime Ministers serving her (including the new one now, Blair being the 10th), 3) and she called her mother "Mama". How sweet can it go further?
There's one thing in the movie that really moved me, when the Queen decided to follow the PM's advice and go down to BP, pay Diana's coffin a close visit but it wasn't shown in the movie whether or not the flag was raised at half pole. Any how, I still love the movie. "1 of four wanted to get rid of me?"... "I was never hated that much..." and for that, I would never hate her.
