Despite how interesting Prof C made Pathology in lectures, no matter how fun Prof Su's Parasitology lectures, I just found out I'm going to be going through sessions and sessions of unhappy practicals.
In fact, I just found out I'm the first name on the name list of the entire batch. Yeap. You can see my name appearing on the #1 of Laboratory 1 on the attendance list. So practically, I'm like arranged to be the first of the list. Should the new exam seat be arranged according to this name list, I'll be sitting on the first table on the left hand side. 1st name. Apparently, and obviously, it isn't being the first that troubled me. It's who I'm with.
I'm being arranged into the same lab with two of the least favourite batchmates I ever know. I knew both of them for quite some time, even before I'm in the medical school. They were basically schoolmates and classmates. And being so, you'd understand when I say there's a chinese proverb that goes something like you'll know how strong a horse is after you travelled long enough, as how you'll know what a person is after some time. I wouldn't say they are both bad or anything, but I can be fairly sure that the one sitting right next to me is quite the least favourite fellow amongst all the other members of the batch.
And now, I'll have to bear with the guy who would talk with all the wisdom one could get memorizing the entire textbook, and showing off how thorough he knew some tiny puny little facts, when the fact is, I'm quite sure he had tongue short enough he can't pronounce "sphincter" correctly. Argh! I've had enough of him for a whole year before being accepted into medical school, and now I'm told I'll have to face him every other afternoons sitting side by side with him at the labs. I can already imagine how he would come showing off to me that he found his Giardia lamblia in his pile of faul-smelling feces or how he would ask me how the CSI members differentiate whether a patient is being killed before being thrown into the river, when I'm darn sure he already knew the answer.
With the bug I can't sweep off my back, I'd be very glad there would be more familiar faces in the lab. But apparently, big Man up there must've agreed with me that I need more entertainment this year, as most of the other lab members aren't pretty much someone I'm close with. I would be very glad I have at least one friend in the lab, but I have 6 others same coloured who are by far greater students and I am feeling stupidly inferior to them. How horrible the year could go?
So much for the unhappy ending being arranged into the wrong lab, I guess I would really have to bear with it. I have nothing I could do other than being grateful for what I'm given. *sigh*
