On the St Mary Basilica

The St Mary Basilica is hard to miss in the Krakow old Market square. Located in the North Eastern corner of the square, the two towers of the basilica dominate the skyline of the old town square. But having had excursions planned and all, I hadn't had time to visit the basilica, considering it also has a certain visiting time being one of the main worshiping abode for the locals.

I stood there watching it at night...

During the rainy days...

In the early morning...

One fine day, I finally found time to enter the magnificent basilica. Upon entering, one couldn't help but to gaze up in awe. The nave of the church was so high and so beautifully decorated that none of the other many churches in town beats the beauty of this one. No puns intended.

The interior of the church was so delicately carved you could just stand there admiring how detailed the carvings were. Painted in gold, the carvings alone takes one hours on end to admire...

The ceiling of the church was so high that it hurts the neck looking up. It must've be about 3 storeys high I thought... But what draws one looking up would of course be how beautifully the ceiling was painted - in the shade of blue with golden leaves...

The main altar was a piece of delicately carved wooden masterpiece depicting story from the bible (I presume)...

Personally, of all the churches I stepped into in Krakow, this one tops the list in terms of beauty.
